Bursaries & Scholarships

About Us

Bursaries & Scholarships

As part of our charitable remit we offer a number of different scholarships and bursaries, giving those who struggle to meet our course fees the opportunity to join us.

Event bursaries for those working primary-aged children, and young people (under 26)

We provide a number of bursaries towards the cost of our conducting courses for UK nationals. We are grateful to the John Lewis Partnership for funding bursaries for teachers and vocal leaders working with primary school children, and Practice Pal Music and generous private donors for funding bursaries for young people (under 26s).

These bursaries cover 40% of the cost of a course, and are available to those financially unsupported by their school or LEA, and applicants must request funding from these sources before applying for a bursary. If you meet these criteria and want to attend an upcoming course, apply for a bursary now. You can find details and links to apply on the relevant event page. If successful, we will send you a coupon code to use when buying your course ticket.

Young Conductors Scholarships

In 2013 we launched a scholarship scheme in the shape of our Young Conductors Programme – a specially designed year-long programme for promising young musicians aged 18–25. The beneficiaries are offered fully funded attendance on a number of our courses, plus one to one mentoring and support to further develop their skills.

Practice Pal Music has generously agreed to fund such a scholarship in the 2022-23 round, and the recipient of this will also have free access to the Practice Pal platform for one year. We are also grateful to the John Lewis Partnership, and the 29th May 1961 Trust for their generous support.

Sing for Pleasure is intent on broadening the representation of conductors and vocal leaders from ethnic minorities in the UK, and we're excited that through the generosity of the John Lewis Partnership we are able to dedicate two scholarships this year to this aim.

The application deadline for our 22-23 cohort has now passed. We will update this page with details of our next round in due course.
